Kara’s Korner

Well the little darling is one year old already!  Since it snowed on her birthday, we had to postpone her party until the following night.  She didn’t know the difference, and was delighted when all her friends came to play.  She had a butterfly cake, that she really didn’t care for (she took the bite I gave her out of her mouth and handed it back to me) though she allowed Aunt Anna to give her little bites of ice cream.  Her favorite part was PRESENTS!  So much paper to rip and tear, and everyone smiling and laughing with her.  It was a wonderful evening celebrating this precious gift from God.

2008-03 Kara’s First Birthday

On Kara’s birthday last year, spring arrived.  This year it was a "blizzard" instead!  The biggest thickest snow ball clumps I’ve ever seen were falling so thick that in half an hour the yard was completely covered!  So much for our birthday party.  But not to worry, its Texas, and it was sixty degrees the next day, so we had the party then!  Kara liked playing in the snow, crunching it with her feet, and tasting it.

Snow!

Kara took her first steps on February second - about three at a time, and scared herself silly!  It wasn’t until February twenty-sixth that she decided walking was really a safe way to negotiate the space around her, but once she did, there’s been no stopping her!  I’ve been chasing her in circles around the house - and she’s getting faster each day!

Kara loves to climb on everything - her art table, the coffee table, in and out of the wagon, and especially on her play towers!  Right now they are in the dining room because it’s too cold to play outside.  She has so much fun climbing up and then sliding down the slides!

Almost One

Kara’s went to a birthday party for her Aunt Anna, and took her a singing frog!  After all, Aunt A is always singing her silly frog song, now her frog can sing to her!  The frog price was certainly the life of the party…

On valentines day, Grandmama took me on a special outing.  I love my grandmama better than anyone else in the whole world.  Not even mama can take me away from her!

It was cold outside, but we needed to take care of Mama’s garden that was wintering in the bathtub.  When our work was done, we had a cheerio picnic!

For Christmas, my Aunt Janet and Aunt Sara gave me the most beautiful red wagon in the whole world!  I will sit and play in it for hours!

I also got a package in the mail from Auntie Rashmi in London.  I wouldn’t let anyone touch it, but I carried it around with me all day!  I put it in the wagon for safe-keeping, but Mama opened it after I went to sleep.
